SUMMARY
In 2022, Vietnam's rice export output increased quite 13.8% compared to 2021, reaching 7.11 million tons, equivalent to $3.45 billion. In which, the proportion of high-quality rice in export is increasing (accounting for 90-95%).
The average export price of Vietnam's rice in 2022 decreased by 7.7% compared to 2021 (US$ 486/ton) according to the general trend of world rice prices. The price of high-quality fragrant rice such as ST25 and ST24 still maintains good prices, especially Japonica rice prices have even increased in the context that the prices of common rice varieties are generally lower.
In 2023, Vietnam's rice exports are still considered positive, but the advantage will belong to enterprises that focus on R&D, developing high-quality seeds, and organic rice. These enterprises will have more advantages in accessing EU and Japanese markets with better export prices and profit margins.
