Oooh, I was so happy to find this in Nice, France - and hand-carried it back home.  This Late Victorian shamrock-shaped glass ashtray has a silver striker box above, holding matches.  Clever, unique and gorgeous.
 
It is hallmarked from London in 1857 with the makers mark being that of John Millward Banks.  There is an RD number of 261835 and is in excellent condition.  
Hinge and lid work and close perfectly.
