Honeybees can travel up to three miles foraging for food. The type of pollen they gather gives the honey unique characteristics. In our gardens we have lots of Lime trees, lavender and hedging which gives the ladies who lunch plenty of food right on their doorstep. They have big appetites though and so their larder is significantly bigger. They gather heather and gorse from the local Gennifer Braes parkland. On a good day we can sit and watch them bringing in their spoils and use pollen charts to see what’s been on the menu.
Our honey is characterised by its thick, viscous caramel texture and complex and deep flavour.
