Girard Perregaux 8020 Ferrari
New into stock is this circa 1997 Girard Perregaux 8020-011 Ferrari Edition.
It has a leather alligator strap stamped with Girard Perregaux on the rear, with a Ferrari embossed logo on the buckle. This is a brand new strap, hardly worn so is in excellent condition. It also comes with 3 other straps which are old and shows how they get over time, but the original owner has chosen to keep these within the history of the timepiece.
The watch was believed to be purchased new in 1997, as these watches stopped production in 2004 before Ferrari switched to Panerai. It is believed the Girard Perregaux and Ferrari collaboration was one of the first timepiece brands to be asked to collobarate by Ferrari. Due to this collectors go crazy over different variants of this particular timepiece due to how subtle the Ferrari branding is on the timepieces compared to the Ferrari watches you see nowadays which are a little over the top and less desirable.
The watch was most recently sent to Swisstec who are a division of Swiss Time Services Ltd, who are authorised by Girard Perregaux to carry out servicing and repairs. In 2021 it had the case cleaned and polished and a brand new replacement black alligator strap at the cost of just short of £400.
Before this in 2018, it had a replacement crystal glass to ensure perfect with new seals and a waterproof test as well as a new pusher. The cost for this was £176 and was also carried out by Swisstec.
There is also another waterproof test receipt enclosed within the history dated 2012, where it is believed to have had a service by Girard Perregaux themselves as the title on the receipt says Servizi Alta Orologeria Girard Perregaux Jean Richard.
With the original Ferrari watch box and outer sleeve box also embossed with Ferrari, comes all the original Ferrari stamped handbooks for the watch. It is believed these watches did not come with an official guarantee certificate or card like we see on watches in 2023. However when the current owner purchased the watch in 2010 (and has owned ever since) he received a certificate of authenticity from Gisbert A. Joseph Watches (joseph-watches.com) which is also included in the sale.
This is a real chance to own a true vintage limited run Ferrari edition Girard Perregaux watch.
