Stories from the Exeter Archive

Artist collective WalkWalkWalk (Gail Burton, Serena Korda & Clare Qualmann), undertook a research residency based in Exeter – a city none of them knew very well. The asked the people of Exeter to share with them walks, which they would then follow in order to discover Exeter's overlooked and lesser known places of interest. They were particularly interested in the routes made by people employed to walk as part of their job. Fifty walks were donated, shared, discussed and discovered. These were transformed into ephemeral text works which were distributed throughtout the city. This publication documents the project which was commissioned by the now closed Exeter-based Spacex gallery.

The book includes texts by Nichola Hood, Phil Smith and Cathy Turner as well as a transcript of a talk given by walkwalkwalk at Hidden City Symposium, Plymouth, 2008.
