Amplifying the diverse voices of women that were brought together to make the fabric of Mauritian society, the Centre for Research on Slavery and Indenture (CRSI) has produced this publication, a collaboration of 19 multi-disciplinary authors. Scholars, research activists, community leaders and cultural writers all got together to tell the stories of women from colonisation to contemporary times. Chapters are written in English, French and Kreol.

The book is edited by contributing authors Vijaya Teelock, Christelle Collet, James de Montilles and Steve Sénèque. The list of all contributing authors is below:
