About the event
Centred Outdoors will host free and guided events here the week of June 18th. For self-guided explorations, the trails are open to the public throughout the year. Join informative guided hikes at Bald Knob on Sunday, June 18th at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.; and Thursday June 22nd at 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Park at the Shingletown Gap Trail Parking and Trailhead, or carpool to the trailhead from the Galbraith Gap Parking Lot on Bear Meadows Road.

Parking/Directions: Park at the Shingletown Gap Trail Parking and Trailhead. Additional parking available along Laurel Run Road.
Once considered for the location of a ski slope, the point known as Bald Knob sits at one of the highest elevations in Rothrock State Forest at 2304 ft. One way to get to the top is from Laurel Run Rd. where you can begin on the Lower Trail and connect to the Green Shoot Trail. The ascent includes comfortable switchbacks meandering through fern-covered forest prior to the final climb to the ridgeline. Take a map with you, as you may want to explore Clemons, Sand Spring, or Lower Trail before heading back to your starting point!
