"Emergency Response Planning & Hazard Mitigation”

(Contact Hours)Presented by RCAC

This workshop will focus primarily on fire prevention and recovery of a water system. Participants will learn ways to protect your water system before disaster strikes. Lessons from emergencies experienced by the trainers.  How to establish effective mutual aid agreements. How to create an emergency and disaster response plan using the Water Board-approved template. Lessons learned regarding state and federal assistance immediately following emergencies.

"Painting and Striping" Brought to you by Kyle Edwards of SealMaster “This course focuses on lane marking, paints, thermoplastics, and sports courts resurfacing.” 

"Networking 101"

With Mike Miller and Melanie Fraley. Mike Miller is an experienced project manager/ business development representative with EagleLIFT.  With over 25 years in the industry Mike will share with you the process of making connections, building relationships, defining networking goals, making use of online and offline platforms, giving before receiving, creating an authentic brand and More. These connections can provide you with advice and contacts, which can help you become a valuable team member. Melanie Is the youngest past president of the MSA, Peter Walsh Award winner, and first Sr. Maintenance worker to sit on the MSA executive board. Melanie will share her experience as it relates to her experience as an executive board member of the MSA.

Afternoon Sessions (1:00 pm to 3:00 pm)

"Water Distribution System Operations & Maintenance”

Many small public water systems lack the dollars and the manpower to effectively operate and maintain their distribution system.This workshop will showcase the typical components in a distribution system and explain the proper methods for operation and maintenance. Participants will learn Water sources and water quality issues.  Water distribution system components.Disinfection techniques.Distribution system safety. Water distribution system math.

"Hydro excavation" (Contact hours) presented by Si Norris and Owen Equipment. This class is going to give you an understanding of how to utilize your combination truck safely and efficiently. What kind of protection will you need to operate your truck, trailer, jetter, or Vacuum. What the characteristics of a Fan vs. PD, The perks of digging with high pressure water or air instead of a shovel. You will learn the proper use of the various nozzles, how to use the hydro-excavation feature of your combination truck, and how to work safely around high pressured equipment and much more.

"Building your A Team" Presented by Kipchogie Brookes. Kip Brooks has worked in the industry throughout his career and has had many experiences that have helped him to develop a strategy for hiring team members.  Kip Brookshas experience building successful teams and will share his methods and teach you the skills that he has learned along the way to help you interview and hire well.
