About the Event

The philosophy of yoga has long involved doing practices that cultivate compassion. Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) is an empirically supported program designed to cultivate the skill of self-compassion.  Based on the ground-breaking research of Kristin Neff and the clinical expertise of Christopher Germer, MSC teaches core principles and practices that enable participants to respond to difficult moments in their lives with kindness, care, and understanding. This workshop is an introduction to Mindful Self-Compassion, combined with the practice of yoga.

This introductory workshop will help you build an understanding of mindfulness in daily living, mindfulness of emotions, and help you normalize the idea that you are not alone in your struggles.  Furthermore, you will learn practical ways to offer yourself self-compassion and self-kindness during challenging times through meditation, a reflection exercise, and a yoga practice.

This workshop is for anyone who can benefit from:

  • Learning strategies that increase emotional strength and resiliency
  • Understanding how to be kind to yourself
  • Learning how to motivate yourself with kindness
  • Learning how to forgive yourself in times of difficulty
  • Learning how to live more authentically.

This workshop is an introduction to the benefits of MSC and will give you a taste of what to expect in our upcoming 8-Week Mindful Self-Compassion Course which we will be offering from Sept. 29th - Nov. 17th, 2021. You're welcome to attend this workshop individually to learn the MSC basics, and if you'd like to learn more we'll invite you to check out the Events page to learn more about joining the full course. Amandeep Jassal: 

Amandeep is a Registered Social Worker (RSW #12408) governed by the British Columbia College of Social Workers. He graduated with a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from UBC with a focus in clinical counseling.
