Please join Dianna Porter in a one-day workshop, supply list below.

  • 20-A North State Street

Service Description

Do you ever wonder why the first color medium we are taught in elementary school is watercolor? I mean, it is so difficult to control with its unmanageable fluidity! Maybe you're trying too hard. Please join me in a one-day workshop, Painting Pets in Watercolor. Bring a photo of an animal. Members $90, Non-Members $115. Morning will be mostly spent getting a good foundation drawing (no tracing). We will begin with some loosening up drawing exercises then on to portrait drawing. The afternoon will be spent learning how to stay relaxed and still have control over the medium. You CAN use little mistakes to your advantage, you know. My goal in this workshop is for you to learn to relax while you're working and enjoy the process. You'll be surprised what a difference it makes in your work. While I can't teach you everything, I know in one day, we will touch on composition, drawing style, and color theory. I'll also show you some tricks of the trade! Skill level: Student should have some drawing experience. I am looking forward to meeting you! Supply list: Soft pencil - 3B, 4B or 5B White rubber eraser or a kneaded eraser Watercolor paper - at least 140lb, 11X14ish Watercolor paints - Alizarin Crimson, Yellow Ochre, Cerulean Blue, Ultramarine Blue, (and whatever else you may already have.).
