Basic Map Reading & Navigation session on Holcombe Moor What to expect: 3.5 hour session 3-4 miles of hiking on challenging moorland Use of compass and map The Sunnywood Project is passionate about the benefits the great outdoors have on our physical and mental well-being. This event is for those with little or no navigation experience and is just as much about experiencing and promoting a love for the great outdoors as it is learning a new skill. Perfect for those preparing for events that require some navigation skill or those that just want to venture that little bit further. What you will learn: • how to orientate your map • how to identify land features on an OS map • how to navigate to a location using a compass • how to navigate to a location using land features • how to estimate distance and pace Meeting point is the car park on Lumb Carr Road.
